A Knowledge, Skills and Attitude Framework for Counselling
What Does The Course Provide?
This correspondence course provides an extensive overview of what is required of the Christian Counsellor. It will enable the learner to learn about the basic skills, and gain an understanding of counselling techniques and responsibilities as well as providing a brief look at some of the major issues that are likely to be met in the counselling environment.
Who is it for?
- Anyone who is interested in counselling and with a heart for other people.
- Those who are involved in caring and counselling will find it particularly useful, as will Pastors, Church Leaders, and Youth Workers - in fact anyone in the 'people business'.
- Those wishing to discover more about counselling in general and Christian counselling specifically but do not wish to commit to a longer and more costly course.
- Anyone unable to find a course locally.
What are the course aims?
- To provide a valuable foundation for those wishing to progress to a full Level 2 course and achieve national accreditation through the ACC and CPCAB.
- To provide an insight into counselling for those who wish to explore the subject without committing to a larger course or who are unable to travel.
What is the course format?
The Introduction to Christian Counselling correspondence course is based around learning materials and short assignments.
The course is split into 12 modules which will be sent to you in two batches of 6 modules. Should you decide to not complete the course before completing the first 6 modules then do let us know and we will send you the remaining modules for your future reference.
Each module will contain your learning material, interspersed with opportunities for you to think about the material and how that may apply to you personally. At the end of each batch of 6 modules there will be a small assignment for you to complete and send to your tutor.
You will be allocated a personal tutor who will be contactable by email and with whom you may correspond on any issues related to the course. Completed assignments will be sent to this tutor for marking.
As well as the assignments you must also keep a personal journal relating to each module. This is to help you with your self-awareness as well as help you to focus on your learning. Your journal must also be sent in to your tutor for marking together with your assignments.
On successful completion of the course you will receive a Barnabas Certificate in Christian Counselling.
